Whataburger Holiday Hours 2026: Christmas & Thanksgiving

Planning to visit Whataburger during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, or another major holiday? Understanding Whataburger holiday hours can help you avoid arriving when your favorite restaurant is closed or operating on a modified schedule.

Whataburger is known for its extended operating hours, with most restaurants open 24 hours a day throughout much of the year. However, Christmas Day is a major exception, and Christmas Eve has historically followed a special closing schedule.

While Whataburger’s published operating policy provides useful guidance, individual restaurants may have different hours, especially those located inside airports or other venues. Here’s what the company’s official information confirms about holiday availability in 2026.

Quick Answer

Most Whataburger restaurants operate 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, with Christmas Day as the standard annual closure. The company’s previously published holiday schedule also specified closing at 6:00 PM on Christmas Eve and reopening at 6:00 AM on December 26. However, those exact Christmas Eve and reopening times have not been separately confirmed for 2026. Thanksgiving and most other holidays generally follow normal operating patterns, subject to location-specific exceptions.

Whataburger Holiday Hours 2026 at a Glance

The following table combines Whataburger’s published operating policy with the 2026 holiday calendar. It should be used as general guidance rather than a guarantee for every restaurant.

Important: “Generally open” reflects Whataburger’s published 364-day operating model. It does not confirm the exact holiday schedule of an individual restaurant.

Is Whataburger Open on Thanksgiving 2026?

Yes, Whataburger is generally open on Thanksgiving Day, which falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026.

According to the company’s published operating information, most restaurants remain open around the clock for 364 days of the year. Thanksgiving is not identified as the company’s standard annual closure.

This makes Whataburger a potential option for customers looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late-night meal on Thanksgiving.

However, a restaurant’s holiday availability should not automatically be interpreted as a guarantee of 24-hour dine-in or drive-thru service.

What Time Does Whataburger Open on Thanksgiving?

At restaurants that normally operate 24 hours, there may be no separate morning opening time. Locations with limited operating schedules can follow different hours.

A universal Thanksgiving opening time for every Whataburger restaurant has not been confirmed.

Does Whataburger Close Early on Thanksgiving?

Whataburger’s general company policy does not establish an early Thanksgiving closing time for all locations.

Check the selected restaurant’s official listing or contact it directly to confirm its Thanksgiving schedule.

Is Whataburger Open on Christmas Eve 2026?

Whataburger traditionally operates on Christmas Eve but closes earlier than usual.

In its official December 2022 holiday announcement, Whataburger stated that restaurants would remain open until 6:00 PM on December 24 before closing for Christmas.

This is useful historical guidance, but the company has not separately confirmed that exact time for December 24, 2026.

What Time Does Whataburger Close on Christmas Eve?

The last specifically published companywide Christmas Eve closing time identified in the official holiday announcement was 6:00 PM.

Customers planning to visit on Christmas Eve 2026 should verify that year’s schedule instead of assuming the historical time still applies.

Can You Visit Whataburger Late on Christmas Eve?

Customers should not rely on normal overnight availability on Christmas Eve.

Even a restaurant that usually operates 24 hours may close for Christmas. Check before planning a late-night visit.

Is Whataburger Open on Christmas Day 2026?

No. Whataburger’s standard company policy is to close on Christmas Day, December 25.

Whataburger’s official press information specifically describes most restaurants as operating 24 hours a day for 364 days each year, with Christmas Day excluded.

The Christmas closure is also documented in the company’s 2025 anniversary information and earlier holiday announcements.

Customers should therefore plan for Whataburger restaurants to be closed on Christmas Day rather than expecting normal 24-hour service.

Does Whataburger Open at Midnight on Christmas?

Under the company’s published Christmas closure policy, restaurants do not continue normal overnight service into Christmas Day.

A restaurant’s regular 24-hour schedule should not be used as evidence that it will operate on December 25.

When Does Whataburger Reopen After Christmas?

Whataburger’s December 2022 holiday announcement specified reopening at 6:00 AM on December 26.

For Saturday, December 26, 2026, the exact reopening time has not been separately confirmed in the official information reviewed.

Customers planning an early morning visit should check their selected restaurant.

Is Whataburger Open on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day?

Whataburger generally operates on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day under its published year-round operating model.

Unlike Christmas Day, neither holiday is identified as a standard annual closure.

New Year’s Eve Hours

Thursday, December 31, 2026, falls within Whataburger’s generally open operating calendar.

Restaurants offering 24-hour service may continue serving customers late into the evening, but individual schedules can differ.

New Year’s Day Hours

New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, also falls within the company’s normal operating pattern.

For customers planning ahead to January 1, 2027, the same general policy is relevant, although location-specific schedules should be confirmed closer to the holiday.

Whataburger Hours on Easter, Memorial Day, and July 4th

Whataburger’s 364-day operating policy also provides guidance for several other major American holidays.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday fell on April 5 in 2026. Whataburger does not list Easter as its standard companywide annual closure.

Most regular 24-hour restaurants would therefore generally be expected to operate, subject to local scheduling.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day fell on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Under the company’s general operating policy, Whataburger restaurants typically remain available on this holiday. Individual restaurant hours may still differ.

Independence Day

Independence Day fell on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Whataburger does not identify July 4 as a regular annual closure. Customers visiting a location with limited hours should check its actual schedule.

Labor Day

Labor Day fell on Monday, September 7, 2026.

This holiday is generally covered by Whataburger’s normal operating pattern rather than its Christmas closure policy.

Do Whataburger Holiday Hours Vary by Location?

Yes. Whataburger’s official location listings show that operating hours can differ by restaurant and by service type.

Although most restaurants follow a 24-hour operating model, some locations have limited hours. Additionally, a restaurant may offer drive-thru service for longer than its dining room remains open.

For example, official location information reviewed in October 2026 shows these regular operating schedules:

These are regular location schedules, not confirmed holiday hours. Their purpose is to demonstrate why a general 24-hour company policy cannot replace checking an individual restaurant.

The Airfield Drive location, for instance, operates on a limited daily timetable rather than a standard round-the-clock schedule.

Airport and Other Limited-Hour Restaurants

Whataburger’s official holiday information specifically acknowledges exceptions for restaurants operating inside venues with restricted schedules.

Because these venues can establish different access and operating arrangements, customers should verify the individual location rather than relying exclusively on chainwide guidance.

Does Whataburger Drive-Thru Stay Open During Holidays?

Drive-thru availability depends on the restaurant and the holiday.

Many Whataburger restaurants offer 24-hour drive-thru service during normal operations. Nevertheless, extended drive-thru hours do not override the company’s Christmas Day closure policy.

On other holidays, regular drive-thru availability may continue where the restaurant is operating normally.

Customers should distinguish between the following services:

A location showing 24-hour drive-thru service on its regular weekly schedule does not necessarily confirm overnight service on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Does Whataburger Serve Breakfast on Holidays?

Breakfast availability depends on whether the restaurant is open and providing breakfast service during the requested period.

Whataburger serves breakfast as part of its established menu, but a restaurant’s operating hours should not be confused with its specific breakfast-service schedule.

On holidays when a location maintains normal operations, customers can generally expect its regular meal-service schedule unless a special restriction applies.

Christmas is the important exception because the standard company closure interrupts regular service.

Can You Get Breakfast on Thanksgiving?

Breakfast may be available on Thanksgiving at restaurants operating under their normal schedules.

Customers should confirm both the restaurant’s holiday hours and its breakfast availability before traveling.

Is Breakfast Available on Christmas Day?

Under Whataburger’s Christmas Day closure policy, regular restaurant breakfast service is unavailable on December 25.

For breakfast on December 26, customers should confirm the selected restaurant’s reopening time.

Does Whataburger Offer Special Holiday Deals?

Whataburger offers menu promotions and rewards-related benefits, but a specific nationwide holiday deal should not be assumed without a current official announcement.

Holiday operating hours and promotional availability are separate matters.

A restaurant being open on Thanksgiving does not necessarily mean it offers a Thanksgiving-specific discount, special meal, or reduced-price menu.

Likewise, a seasonal item advertised in a previous year should not be treated as an active 2026 promotion.

For current offers, review Whataburger’s official promotional information or the offers displayed for your account and selected restaurant.

How to Check Whataburger Holiday Hours Near You

The most reliable way to check local Whataburger holiday hours is to use the company’s official location information and confirm any special schedule before visiting.

1. Open Whataburger’s official website.
2. Find the restaurant locator and choose your preferred location.
3. Review its posted operating hours and available services.
4. Look for holiday-specific notices or schedule changes.
5. Check the Whataburger app for location-specific ordering availability.
6. Contact the restaurant directly when a holiday schedule is not clearly listed.

Google Maps can provide an additional check, but its regular opening hours should not be treated as definitive proof of holiday service.

For Christmas Eve and December 26, direct confirmation is particularly useful because exact 2026 holiday times have not been established by the earlier company announcement.
